My daughter & her friends travelled from Bangalore to Kolkata on the Duronto on 28th March. As this forum had adviced, the Kamats restaurant was quite good where they had their breakfast. Of all the meals served in the train, the lunch on the first day was the best which consisted of roomali roti, dal, paneer & pulao. All the items were hot & good. Teatime they were served a sandwhich, a packet of peanuts , petha & coffee.
Dinner time, the mutter paneer was excellent but dal did not match up to the lunchtime dal. The parathas were thick thus disappointing. Somehow they conned extra helpings of the ice cream which kept them happy.Breakfast ( butter toast, boiled eggs &...
more... Amul kool milk) & lunch (dal, mix veg) were regular fare though the mishti doi was good.
Overall, the fare served was decent & makes one gravitate back to train travel. WiFi services, now available on most long distance trains was missing. The railways need to consider an option of providing aerated drinks & frozen snacks (which can be air fried) in the pantry car on payment for people looking for a change in food.
