The RPF launched an investigation ten days ago after receiving information about the racket. During a raid on Friday morning, they seized scrap loaded onto a truck (JH02AP 2219) and arrested the truck driver, Jayprakash Singh, along with Uma Singh, Deepak Yadav, Santosh Mishra, and Roshan Yadav who were loading the scrap. The RPF has named seven accused, including Akhilesh Poddar and his manager Mohan Gorai, of which five have been arrested. The raid team included the RPF in-charge, crime branch inspector Shailesh Chandra, and other RPF police personnel. Poddar is a notorious railway thief with a history of five arrests for stealing railway freight train bogies, sheets, tracks, and other scrap. He was arrested and imprisoned by the RPF in Seoni six months ago. However, he resumed his criminal activities after his release. Poddar's scrap yard was operating illegally half a kilometer from Kandra police station, despite no knowledge of it by the police. He is also accused of stealing railway transformers. The scrap theft involved using large hammers to break doors and sheets from freight trains leaving the Tata Company, which is under the jurisdiction of the Adityapur police station.

Uske baad usko ikattha kar ke scrap yard le jaaya jata tha. Khabar hai ki daily laakhon ka scrap chori kiya ja raha tha aur apni jaan khatre mein dal kar ye kiya ja raha tha. Tata Company jaane wali yeh rail line Adityapur police station ke aadhin aati hai.
