Most vehemently opposing criticisers of HST in parliament sessions are the ones who had announced the Mumbai-Ahmedabad in the same parliament many times earlier when they were presenting the Rail budget! But they were be-fooling the Indian public by not implementing the same since many years! Now the other Govt. started implement it, after managing a never before almost interest free loan agreement with Japan much to the benefit of India, they are crying horse and criticising it tooth and nail.!!
The same criticisers lobbied hard & did all out efforts to prevent construction of rail lines (including HST lines), roads & other industries through successfully blocking of Land acquisition bill. Ironically they brought in similar bill in parliament about 7-8years...
more... ago when they were ruling, in order to facilitate the economic progress of country and claim credit for it. If others do development, then block it, else they will get credit. So priority is political interests and national interests come at secondary or tertiary level or not considered at all. If the bullet train project is successful they will claim it to be their original project. Media will propagate and majority of the Indians will believe as well!! If it turns out to be a failure they will criticise more vehemently.
In India most of the discussions are done in the interest of gaining political mileage out of every oppotunity however sensitive it may be, and not for the development of nation and LONG TERM benefit/ development of people.
HST cost cannot be recovered through fares only, other benefits like boost to economic activities, life of people etc have also to be considered. The economic rate of return of Mumbai-Ahm project is estimated at a decent 12%.
Chinese had a business interest of becoming the world leader in HST transporter, most cost effective Manufacturer & Supplier of Technology. It has taken a big risk of investing very huge capital and so far had been successful in many (not all) ways. Ultimate success depends on how much economic benefits they can reap at home and how much they can earn through export of HST Technology. There has been good development in the cities connected with HST.
Dear friend, at the juncture of our independence, British PM Winston Churchill jibed at India stating that Indians were not fit (educated, aware and wise enough) for democracy, much to chagrin of Indians. We may be amongst the well educated ones, but still majority of Indian vote by caste, communal lines and easily get be fooled by Media & Politicians. Very strong anti-incumbancy factor in every elections is a testimony to this and indicator of the performance of yje India governance. Is our democracy a real democracy?
Majority of People and leaders both are happy today, former by way getting alms through Govt subsidies and later by having the masses dependent on them by splurging the national wealth & hard earned taxpayer’s money (2% of Indian population) for political benefits in the name of helping poor. While the poor become bonded to the former for want of bounty showered on them by the former.
People should be ready to work hard in their interest as well as the in the national interest. They should demand development, expansion of industries, employment & economy and creation of employment opportunities for all the Indians, so that they can rightfully earn money & purchase rice by paying 25 Rs kg from market with pride rather than asking for subsidies or remaining dependent on subsidies. Today Indians are busy demanding subsidy in every thing, many demanding inclusion of their cast in minorities category/ reserved category, there is very little demand of increasing GDP, growth of nation, reasonable percolation of the benefits there of to all the Indians. Today after centuries of facing divide and rule, so divided are we, that unity and self-pride has gradually eroded away from the heart/mind and remain mostly on tongue & paper.
Unless we, the Indians develop the capability to distinguish between the doer and the leg puller, and develop resolve to elect the best performers to lead our nation, irrespective of cast, religion, regionalism, the soul of late Winston Churchill continues to have the last laugh over us.
