Yes you are right but partially because comapared to present sitution with other cities Hubli is some what good in train connections especially trains to bengaluru/mysuru back to back. But other places like Ballari,Bijapur,Belagavi,Gulbarga,Bidar,Raichur,Hospet,Bagalkot,Gadag,Koppal still lags in good train connections.
#offtopic Once upon a time their were lot of activities happening at Gadag jn concerned to railways but today all is like abondoned. Railway staff and quarters are huge but no proper utilization of them. Lot of railway area occupied at gadag but its like barren nothing constructions infact destructing old rail quarters. Railway institute where functions and some rail related programmes happening its like dead house no one go their,Railway Provided Lawn Tennis shed but now no maintenance its...
more... also waste,Railway kindergarten LKG/UKG where i studied shutdown in around 2005/06.Now railway school for primary tht also stuggling to run,Railway Hospital for which doctor come from Hubli no dedicated doctor for hospital as no patients ha ha.P. Huge bunglow for Assistant divisional Engineer where Engr himself said railways to reduce size and build compund as get afraid and feels like i am in jungle. Thier was a Loco shed too and that time whole rail staff strength at GDG was around 1300-1500 members including all dept like., IOW,P-way,TXR,C&W,S&T,Electrical,RPF,Health unit,Loco Shed mech,Clerks,Parcel office etc but today manpower reduced.
Railways can renowate Institute and provide it for rent to marriage functions instead of keeping it barren and even railways can upgrade lawn tennis shed where their sports ppl can come and utilise it with paying some charges. all these are inside city area where value of land is more but all land is empty only. For the same reason we could not find any good hotels or shops outside GDG station as all area belongs to railway and they wont allow outsiders to utilize it in afordable wages.
