State requests Railways to extend Sabari rail to Vizhinjam from Erumely

The Kerala government has requested the Railway Board to extend the proposed Angamaly-Erumely Sabari rail line to Thiruvananthapuram. This extension, costing an additional ₹1,000 crore, would link the proposed Sabarimala international airport and Vizhinjam international seaport, creating a vital transport corridor. The project was initially deemed uneconomical due to a...

low projected rate of return in 2013. However, Kerala's increased traffic and the upcoming Vizhinjam port necessitate a new rail line. The proposed alignment, which would run parallel to MC Road, would cover 160 km, connecting Nedumangad to the rail network, as per Railway's new norms for towns with a population exceeding 50,000. The government urges the Centre to include this project in the Rail Sagar Scheme, citing the existing rail line's inability to handle the rising demand. The extension would also link the Sabarimala airport, making it the third rail corridor for Kerala and reducing dependence on roads.

Kerala government ne Railway Board se request kiya hai ki Angamaly-Erumely Sabari rail line ko Thiruvananthapuram tak extend karein. Yeh extension, jo ki ₹1,000 crore extra kharch karega, proposed Sabarimala international airport aur Vizhinjam international seaport ko connect karega, ek important transport corridor banakar. Project pehle 2013 mein low rate...

of return ke wajah se un-economical mana gaya tha. Lekin, Kerala mein badhte traffic aur aane wala Vizhinjam port, ek new rail line ki jarurat hai. Proposed alignment, jo ki MC Road ke parallel chalega, 160 km cover karega, Nedumangad ko rail network se connect karega, Railway ke new norms ke according, jisme 50,000 se zyada population wale towns ko rail network se connect karna hai. Government Centre se request kar raha hai ki yeh project ko Rail Sagar Scheme mein include karein, existing rail line ki increasing demand handle karne ki inability ka reason dete hue. Extension, Sabarimala airport ko bhi connect karega, yeh Kerala ka third rail corridor ban jayega aur roads aur existing over-saturated rail line pe dependancy kam ho jayegi.

Two rail projects may have a bearing on electoral prospects of some candidates in Kerala

Two rail projects are impacting the Kerala elections. The SilverLine project, despite initial approval, faces public protests and delays. Meanwhile, the Sabari rail project, planned for decades, is stalled due to funding issues. The State government is hesitant to support it, even though the Railway Board requests their commitment to half...

the cost. The project aims to connect Sabarimala to Vizhinjam, potentially benefiting eastern Kerala. The anti-K-Rail group is campaigning against candidates who support the SilverLine project. The Sabari Action Council will support candidates who advocate for the old Sabari rail project. There's also a new proposal for a rapid rail transit route from Chengannur to Pampa, possibly using elevated structures and tunnels.

Kerala elections mein do rail projects ka impact hai. SilverLine project ko approval to mila tha, lekin public protest aur delays ke wajah se usme delay ho raha hai. Dusri taraf, Sabari rail project jo decades se plan kiya ja raha hai, woh funding issues ki wajah se stuck hai. State...

government usse support karne mein hesitant hai, even though Railway Board ne unse half the cost shoulder karne ke liye commitment maanga hai. Project ka aim Sabarimala ko Vizhinjam se connect karna hai, jisse eastern Kerala ko benefit ho sakta hai. Anti-K-Rail group un candidates ke against campaign kar raha hai jo SilverLine project ko support karte hain. Sabari Action Council un candidates ko support karega jo purane Sabari rail project ke liye advocate karte hain. Ek new proposal bhi hai, Chengannur se Pampa tak rapid rail transit route banane ka, shayad elevated structures aur tunnels ke saath.
