Tambaram - Sengottai - Tambaram tri-weekly express, Mayiladuthurai - Karaikudi - Mayiladuthurai daily service, and the Ernakulam - Velankanni - Ernakulam bi-weekly express use this route. The increased speed applies to all sections except for the Thiruthuraipoondi-Agasthiyampalli (37 km) and Nagapattinam - Velankanni (10 km) sections. Local rail users are advocating for a new daily morning service from Karaikudi to Mayiladuthurai and a daily night service from Karaikudi to Chennai.

Local rail users ek new daily morning service Karaikudi se Mayiladuthurai tak, aur ek daily night service Karaikudi se Chennai tak, chahte hain.
