The 4.8 km Line 2 extension runs from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade, includes a tunnel under the Hooghly River, and cost Rs49.7 billion. The 1.25 km Line 3 extension runs from Taratala to Majerhat and cost Rs5.3 billion. The central section of Line 2 between Esplanade and Sealdah is expected to open by Q3. National elections in India will start on April 19th.
