The Bakulha-Ballia and Phephna-Indara meter gauge sections were constructed by the British in 1899. In 1996, a double line was built. Due to increased rail traffic, the Ministry of Railways completed the doubling and electrification of the Ballia-Bakulha (43.42 km) section as part of the Ballia-Chhapra doubling project at a cost of 637 crore rupees. The stations located on this section are Ballia, Bansdih Road, Chhatta Aschaura, Sahtwar, Revadi, Dal Chhapra, Suremanpur, and Bakulha. The doubling of the Indara-Phephna (50.84 km) section was approved, including electrification. The doubling of the Phephna-Rasra (22.41 km) section was completed as the first phase of the Indara-Phephna project, while the Rasra-Indara (28.43 km) section was completed as the second phase. The total cost of the doubling and electrification of the Indara-Phephna section was 600 crore rupees.

Increasing rail traffic ke karan, Railway Ministry ne Ballia-Chhapra doubling project ke andar Ballia-Bakulha (43.42 km) section ka doubling aur electrification 637 crore rupees ke cost pe complete kiya. Is section pe Ballia, Bansdih Road, Chhatta Aschaura, Sahtwar, Revadi, Dal Chhapra, Suremanpur, aur Bakulha stations hai. Indara-Phephna (50.84 km) section ka doubling bhi electrification ke saath approved kiya gaya tha.
