The NCRTC, responsible for implementing the RRTS project, had complained about Delhi's delayed payments of Rs 100 crore for the Delhi-Alwar corridor and Rs 50 crore for the Delhi-Panipat corridor for the fiscal year 2023-24. As per the NCRTC's details, Delhi is obligated to pay a total of Rs 5,704 crore over six years in pre-decided annual instalments for both corridors, ending in 2028-29. The RRTS, a new rail-based system designed for high speeds, aims to decongest roads and reduce pollution in Delhi by connecting the Capital to its surrounding towns. Despite the project's objectives, the Delhi government has refused to provide financial support for the Delhi-Alwar and Delhi-Panipat RRTS corridors, according to a written reply in Rajya Sabha on 13 March 2023. The project, a collaboration between the center, states, and multilateral institutions, requires each state to contribute proportionally to the infrastructure being built within their territory.
