Why KDA is even using English in Bangalore Metro? The widely spoken language in the World is Mandarin and Spanish. After that comes English and Hindi. Better to put signages in Mandarin.
Sorry to say but this is ridiculous. Apart from many reasons that Bangalore got an edge over Chennai was that Bangalore was more...
more... welcoming than Chennai to outsiders.
Bangalore used to be just like Delhi and Mumbai. Even Taxi driver could speak both languages. While in Chennai the reality is quite different.
At Chennai Airport which is the gateway to the world for Tamilnadu; it is very difficult to make the taxi driver understand because they don't know any other language except Tamil. Although they understood me more when i tried to speak in Hindi rather than English.
Anyway, it's not a big problem for me because English would come handy for me. Let the common man suffer because of their language fanaticism. It's a two-way ride. You may prefer speaking English, Kannada or Tamil but when you would leave your nest and go up Central and North then you have to struggle with a rickshaw driver, shop owners or a common man who may no understand English.
India has always welcomed various Cultures and religions. There should be regular flow otherwise we know what happens to a water which doesn't flow anywhere.
