Kannur has 3 MPs(plus Malappuram & Kozhikode MPs). But Kannur doesn't have MPs like Kodikkunnil Suresh, T. Govindan, AKG, etc who were exerting their tireless efforts to get the things done. Every MPs and MLAs are performing their scheduled roles in front of the Railway Ministers and officials. But that is not at all sufficient for the things to get done.

There is a huge loss due to non-availability of pitline at Kannur. Even lack of 2 days running of Jan Shatabdi Express due to the absense of pitline at Kannur costs Rs. 16 crores to the Railway in an year. Just only that cost is sufficient for construction of one pitline at Kannur. But, the Railway is "purely" Deaf on this matter. The news link is below:
Source : click here : "Loss owing to underutilisation of Kannur-capital Jan Shatabdi Express". CAG put loss at Rs.15.81 crore.

this 16 crores sufficient for constructing just one pitline at Kannur? This is the matter of just one express train. If we consider the cost of other trains, the total loss figure of railways will cross some 30 crores and above in an year.
In addition to pitline, lack of 4th platform at Kannur creates yet another huge loss, as both time and money. Lot of trains are delayed due to non-availability of 4th platform.
The ball lies in the court of honorable MPs and MLAs. Unfortunately, their actions were just limited to conveying the messages from public. Even a usual Railway User from Kannur can present those petitions in front of Railway Officials and Railway Ministers, if they get a chance - Just select anyone of them, the same actions will be followed. But, the roles of MPs and MLAs are not at all limited by just giving petitions. Instead, their continuous follow-up and high level pressings are required for the things to happen. A very good examples is Honorable Mavelikkara MP, Mr. Kodikkunnil Suresh. Due to his tireless efforts, many trains were started from his constituency and many facilities were initiated by both State & Central governments, in Railway and other infrastructure fields, and many more..... Almost all the projects are running well, with continuous follow-ups & necessary actions. Another example was former Kasargod MP, Late Mr. T. Govindan, who exerted his continuous&tireless efforts in the union government for Ezhimala Naval Academy.

It is so sad to hear such news again and again. Some accidents are caused due to traffic blocks to reach railway stations, some due to lack of adequate ticket booking counter facilities, some due to lack of proper announcement¬ifications, some due to last second rush, some due to carelessness and in some cases, all these factors are joined together. Atleast thanks for the co-passengers and those who were left in the platform for rescuing her, immediately. It can happen to anyone. Nobody can be sure that he/she will not go near to the doors/wash basins during the running of trains, and there is a very big chance of falling down from the train. Everyone should think of their own safety&security, not to get in to a running train. I saw one example in GUV-MS express at Trivandrum station, 1 year back. One...

family(one new born baby, 2 children aged less than 5 years, plus husband&wife), were trying to get back into the train after it departed from the platform. Actually, 90% of the passengers alighted at Trivandrum and the family was getting down from one reserved coach to the nearest general coach. The train had just 5 minutes halt at Trivandrum, but they expected atleat 10 minutes halting at Trivandrum early morning, around 4am, as all of them were in sleeping mood. When they tried to get into the train, husband jumped with new born baby into the train and wife and 2 other children were fearing to enter the train, as the train accelerated immediately and started running very fast. When the wife and children tried to enter the train, their face got hit by the coaches and were injured. Luckily, the train slowed after few seconds and they all were able to get in to the train. Like these incidents happen everywhere. Sometimes, due to heavy rush, passengers need to travel on footboards, especially office hour time.
