An extreme form of this OBNOXIOUS law to which I was a recent victim, may be summed up as " If several things can go wrong, all of them will ". And this is how it all transpired.
My wife and I accompanied by our 3-year old grandson came to Coimbatore on a holiday on 3rd May. The little boy's parents were to join us there on the 6th and return with him to their base at Udupi on the 7th night. Their tickets from Mangalore to Coimbatore and back were booked by me, the family's so-called RAIL EXPERT.
Since they wanted to be back in Udupi via Mangalore on Sunday, the 8th, I booked tickets for them for journey from CBE to MAQ by 17606 Kacheguda-Mangalore Biweekly Express leaving CBE at 2 am on 7th May and reaching MAO at 11.10 the next day. Being a weekend, tickets were not available by any other train and only 2 sleeper class berths were available in this train. So I booked them at lightning speed before they too vanished. Before booking, I pinged my friend Pramodh Kommattil, on WA, and informed him about these travel plans. He enquired if I was booking for Santragachi-Mangalore Vivek Express and I mentioned to him that my preference was for KCG-MAQ Express. Of course I did not give him the details of the dates of travel etc. (contd....)
