My plain & simple rule is a Shatabdi should run with atleast 13 CC & 1-2 ECC & should have atleast some amount of W/L in the next couple of days of booking...The reason being Shatabdi trains are premier most in the route they run...Take eg of 12042 NJP Shatabdi only...covering NJP-MLDT in 3 Hrs & MLDT-HWH in 5 Hrs & in the process it overtakes so many freights which are abnormallt delayed because of this train...So atleast if Shatabdi is unable to generate some basic revenue to the route then there is no point in giving priority to it..Its not like running a Shatabdi would take NFR to some elite class...There are already so many freights running which earn the basic revenue for the zone..So my sincere request is stop this Shatabdi for next couple of years.

first of all ...July-sept is lean season.....and this train has been doing good actually when u add current travelers... a shatabdi will not get fill up to the capacity two weeks advance...if availability status is considered as the bench mark...then there are plenty of trains...even Shatabdis should be stopped....now a days many trains shows WL... but if u board...u will find lot of berths lying vacant....in fact this is a very good train....so no way it can be stopped...leave aside the political equation.....

NJP satabdi is getting very popular day by day.....but its maintenance is now big issue...especially the Bathrooms are very dirty and shabby......authorities must look into this matter....this is not expected in this premier train......but the train is running with top priority in timings.....great..

Skipping Rampurhat - 12042 Shatabdi (March 2, 2013) : We were approaching Rampurhat and the train continued to impress with just two halts in its 359 km run (Kishanganj and Malda Town) and an average speed of 70.6 kmph. I was somewhat peeved that a freight train was blocking my view of the Kanchejunga Exp. and sprinted to the other side to get a better view of the station. A satisfying skip!
