If you live in South Mumbai or areas like Bandra, Khar, Santacruz, and kind of in Andheri, it's easier for you to catch a train at Mumbai Central or Bandra Terminus. But if you're in Malad, Kandivli, Borivali, Dahisar, Mira Bhayander, Vasai, or Virar, it's a pain in the ass to travel all the way to South Mumbai just to catch a train and then come back the same way. Something needs to be done to make it easier for these passengers. Plus, most trains don't stop for more than 2 minutes at Borivali because it's always crowded. Also, listen to this... There are excellent bus services from Navi Mumbai and Thane to Borivali via Ghodbunder Road. So, for people from these places, Borivali station could be a blessing. Why would people from Navi Mumbai or Thane go through city traffic to Mumbai Central when they can take a route with less traffic on Ghodbunder Road to Borivali? And looking at the Central Line, especially Mulund and Dombivli, if people are heading towards places like Vadodara, Ahmedabad, or Delhi, the road from Thane to Borivali is a good option for connectivity.
