Beautiful
39100 Santragachi WAP7 with 14hrs 40 min late
running 12222 Howrah - Pune Duronto Express.
As the train was rescheduled by 9 hours from
Howrah due to late running of link rake and further got delayed due to excessive freight train pressure in SER and SECR zone.

The actual departure time of this train was 05:45 am but due to reschedule Duronto express departed at 02:45 PM from Howrah.

Nice pic.

The freight issue is only in SECR. 12860 yesterday, for example, passed JSG 5 minutes late. It was over 4 hours late by the time it reached Nagpur.

Here is the
...
state of affairs using 12860 run yesterday:
HWH - JSG (SER): 516 km, scheduled run time 7 hours, 48 minutes (actual 7:44, average speed 67 kmph), delay: 5 minutes

JSG - NGP (SECR): 615 km, scheduled run time 9:45 (average speed 63). Actual: 13:44 (average speed 45 kmph)

Because of pathetic state of management in SECR, the train won't reach Mumbai until after 1 am. I feel bad for passengers (but clearly, the bean counters running SECR couldn't care less). Indian railways is still charging premium/super fast premiums even with bad average speed (much less inconvenience).

Did 12101 overtake 12261 somewhere after that? It reached Shalimar almost 30 minutes before 12261 reached HWH.

Running via ET will permanently add about 4+ hours to journey anyway.

The trains (12262 and its return should be shifted to Mumbai Central in Mumbai .May I tell you why Because there is no such direct train from Mumbai Central to Howrah Junction. And there should be one such train in
these Important stations .If any thing you need you are free to give your
opinions.Don't be frightened 🥴

The only option I see is via Udhna - Jalgaon. It would not only add distance/time (about 140 km more, so at least two more hours), it would not have any advantage.

It would be better to run a train from LTT or CSTM thru BSL-NGP to Kolkata or Sealdah either via Dankuni or Hatia/Asansol. In fact, given the choice SER made in shifting Jnaneswari to Shalimar, it would be better to run that train to Sealdah or Kolkata instead.

Not to mention, people that would use these trains don't live in the railways station but travel there. Besides, WR has shifted some Mumbai Central trains to BDTS.

A different route would serve much better but with trains expected to have stops, like Jnaneswari, which could go BSL-NGP to Rourkela, Hatia, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Asansol, Kolkata or Sealdah... given the lame shift from HWH to Shalimar it is clearly an unwanted train in SER anyway. :)

Trains out of MMCT have been shifted to Bandra as well. One problem with MMCT route is also that it will add 2+ hours to the journey. Imagine trying to save 15 minutes to get to MMCT instead of CSTM, but only to waste couple of hours on the re-route (and you also pay more since the distance is longer).

12261 left CSTM almost 5 hours late. That means, assuming no delays, it should reach HWH around 1:15 am on September 7.

But, it is practically guaranteed that it will get delayed by another 2-3 hours at the minimum once it hits SECR, so may not reach until after 4 am.

I

Interestingly enough, running status shows that 12101 reached Shalimar (4.47 am) before 12261 reaching HWH (5.10 am), so Jnaneswari would have overtaken Duronto somewhere.

Trainman shows 12262 departed at 7.49 (less than three hours after arrival). AND reached Mumbai almost 9 hours late, most of it again in SECR.

Indian Railways has turned Mumbai-NGP-Howrah route to a disaster. Do they want people to stop using trains?

Ironically, practically of all the delay happens in the only section that has triple line for a long time now: SECR zone. They just can't figure out how to run the trains on time.

Mumbai - BSL is also a very busy section but trains are rarely late (significantly) and average a lot more in speed too despite of still being 110 kmph.

I think we should look at two things: traffic as a whole, as well as speed.

Most of the delays are occurring between Gondia and Jharsuguda (Bilaspur - Jharsuguda is the worst). Freight trains are running past these sections in both direction but the issue is not seen there. And this is also the section (from Rajnandgaon) that has triple line along with freight bypass at Raipur.
...

What boggles my mind is, decision making where traffic control is stopping trains that are supposed to move faster. Typically, OT happens when the train in front is slower. These premium trains can easily continue to slot between freight trains even if they can't go 130. Instead, they are put aside, to the inconvenience of passengers. They are being treated worse than coal. Its almost as if railways has decided that people should stop using trains.

And as I predicted, Duronto made it to HWH much later (5.10 am actually), or almost 9 hours late! That is pathetic service.

I am shocked though that the return to Mumbai started at 7.49 am, less than 3 hours after arrival, which means, there wasn't enough time to do maintenance.
