- ---- RVNL : A brain child of Mr Nitish Kumar ----
* RVNL was created during the reign of Mr Nitish Kumar with an aim to create rail infrastructure before demand!
* For few years adequate funds were routed through RVNL and it worked very well, especially the very fast doubling of very vital Mahanadi Bridge on HWH-MAS trunk line near Cuttack was a great achievement. But afterwards funds dried up as RVNL continued to...
more... be neglected and today ending up with your wonderful comment. A good venture of Mr Nitish fell prey to negligence of succeeding RMs.
- ---- SAMPARK KRANTI TRAINS : A great concept of Mr Nitish Kumar ----
* Mr Nitish Kumar was a good RM, and it is unfortunate that his one more great concept of Sampark Kranti Trains too fell prey to apthy of succeeding RM.
* A series of 18 SK trains were announced in the interim rail budget of 2004 and were meant to provide faster connectivity to all the major states than other SF trains. They were supposed to be Rajdhani trains with non ac coaches.
* Accordingly Mr Nitish inaugurated the first SK to Karnataka (NZM-SBC) in Feb'2004 which was faster than the fastest SF train on the route i.e. Karnataka Express. Then Govt changed and the new RM relegated the importance of most SKs to normal SF trains. Today SK SKs are playing second fiddle to top SF train of the route, like TN-SK is slower than TN-Exp. in-spite of much lesser stops.
* Since SK trains mostly run on Main lines and have very less number of stops, they are best suited to give very fast connectivity. As per original concept, SKs should be treated like Rajdhani trains in matter of priority and should be fastest trains on route second only to premium ac trains. Accordingly they need to be LHBfied on top priority, speeded up and prioritised, so as to have journey times almost at par with the corresponding Rajdhani.
